It's very hard not to love a Silkie. They are very popular pet chickens because of their small size, friendly personalities, and abundance of soft fluffy fur-like feathers.

Silkies are a melanistic, bantam breed, with a crest, 5 toes, and a walnut comb. Silkies lay 100-120 small cream colored eggs per year.

They come in a multitude of colors including White, Black, Grey, Blue, Buff, Partridge, and Splash. There are both bearded and non bearded varieties.
